The Ruffles Return to the Studio to Record Powerful New Original Song Inspired by a Dear Friend
Delray Beach, Florida — August 30, 2026 — The Ruffles are back in the studio.
Fresh off the worldwide release of their debut single, “Baby Blue Bronco,” the South Florida sister rock band returned to the recording studio yesterday to begin laying down tracks for another original song, scheduled for release later this year.
The new recording session took place at Bleachouse Studios in Delray Beach, Florida, a studio the band selected for its inviting recording environment, quality sound, and talented engineering team. The Ruffles were particularly drawn to the studio because of engineer Sam Lowen, whose expertise and approach to recording created the right environment for the young musicians to capture the energy and emotion of the new track.
Joining The Ruffles in the studio was their father, manager and producer Scott Woolley, along with the band’s longtime music director and collaborator Brent Look. Together, the team worked with the sisters as they developed the arrangement, recorded their individual parts, and brought the new song to life.
But this song is different.
Written by The Ruffles, the new track was inspired by the loss of their dear family friend Jimmy Sommers, who was much more than a family friend. Jimmy was like an uncle to The Ruffles, having been a part of their lives since the day they were born. He watched the sisters grow up, supported their dreams, and became an important part of the family and their journey as musicians.
Jimmy also understood music from the inside. He was a respected jazz artist with numerous albums to his name, bringing his own experience and perspective as a recording artist and musician into the girls’ lives. His passion for music and his understanding of what it meant to create, perform, and share music gave him a unique connection with The Ruffles as they began developing as young artists.
Jimmy had a profound influence on the sisters and their musical journey. He encouraged them, believed in them, and supported them as they began discovering their individual talents and developing their identity as a band. His presence was woven into their lives long before The Ruffles ever stepped onto a stage or entered a recording studio.
For the sisters, losing Jimmy left a tremendous void. But rather than allowing that loss to remain only a painful memory, they chose to turn their feelings into music.
The new song became a way for The Ruffles to honor Jimmy and the impact he had on their lives. Written from the heart, the song reflects the memories they shared, the influence he had on them and the lasting impression he left on their family.
“This song is very special to the girls,” said Scott Woolley, the band’s manager and producer. “It comes from a very real place. They lost someone who meant a great deal to them and who was an important influence on their lives and their music. Writing the song gave them a way to honor that person while also turning those emotions into something creative and meaningful.”
For The Ruffles, the recording session represents another step forward in their rapidly developing career.
The sisters—who have been performing together since they were young—are continuing to evolve from a live cover band into a serious original recording group. Their first three original songs were recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, and their debut single, “Baby Blue Bronco,” was released worldwide on August 27, 2026.
The band is now building on that momentum with a steady schedule of original music, with additional songs planned for release throughout the coming months.
The new song also reflects the band’s philosophy of using music to tell real stories.
From their experiences growing up together as sisters to the people who have influenced their lives, The Ruffles are increasingly drawing from their own experiences when writing music. Their latest song may ultimately become one of their most personal recordings yet.
Back at Bleachouse Studios, the sisters spent the session working through the song one track at a time, focusing on capturing not only the technical performance but the emotion behind the music.
